One Last Soul Train Line.

I will never forget watching Crooklyn by Spike Lee.  All the kids in the movie were piled up on the bed. The black and white TV set was on and everyone was quiet. You could almost hear a pin drop.  And then "The Voice" said "everybody line up for the Soul Train Line." The kids in the movie (which represented Spike Lee's childhood) and I would get up and do the line dances as though we were gonna be the next big dancer found.  At the end Don Cornelius would say "we wish you love, peace and SOUL!!"

Today as we do our last twirls down the Soul Train Line, let's wish Don Cornelius the same.

A call was made from a neighbor who heard a gun shot and at 4am they found Mr. Cornelius with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.   "Before MTV, there was Soul Train," said by Quincy Jones, close friend and business partner.   Patti LaBelle stated that he was "simply a genius."

The birth of Soul Train, which was an African-American version of American Band Stand, allowed African-Americans to have fun, do something new and show off the latest dances and fashions of the 70's and rolling into the 90's.

This also gave a lot of African-American Stars a great way to showcase their talents.

To name a few:
Patti LaBelle
Luther Vandross
Nick Cannon
Toni Braxton
Aaliyah
Doug E. Fresh

My mom used to show me so many pictures of her hair like Diana's and her green pinto, lol.  She used to try and teach my siblings and I the dances, and we used to act like The Jacksons. Of course I could only be Janet or Michael.  Now it seems as if those bold patterns, bright colors and geometrical shapes have been gracing the houses of Cavalli, Giambattista and Versace.  Don Cornelius allowed Fashion and Dance to be the ultimate topic of discussion and for that I raise my fist up high.

LOVE, PEACE AND SOOOUULLLL!!!
